On the other hand, Korean double mattresses have only modest association with global brand recognition effects or with a documented consumer preference for locally produced products. We cannot find any differences in terms of consumer’s perceived product performance among key attributes between King Koil and Korea double mattresses. Accordingly, it appears that a high price is the only aspect based upon which Korea double mattresses can be identified as being of higher quality than their competitors. In order to increase price premiums associated with Korea double mattress, such price premiums must be based on actual contributions to consumer value rather than just brand image. From the one-way ANOVA test, we observed that King Koil sub-brand was a favorite brand among respondents staying in apartments, HDB flats, and other housing types. Among car owners, those with a CEE household income of more than $1000 had a significant preference for King Koil. For those owning apartments, HDB flats, and condominiums, they were more likely to buy King Koil sub-brand, while cottage residents preferred Korea double sub-brand. Finally, in forecasting the intensity of mattress preferences in the future, whether a respondent would buy a King Koil or Korea mattress as his/her next mattress, the patient had a constant response regardless of the brand they were asked about. That is, those respondents who said they were going to buy a certain brand or sub-brand in the future gave the same response when asked about the respective current mattress.
After conducting a quantitative study on King Koil and Korea double mattresses in Singapore, several significant findings were observed. Results showed that married respondents had a significant preference for King Koil mattress, while single respondents had a significant preference for Korea double mattress.
